Prague, the Golden City on the Vltava River, is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. The entire historic center was therefore placed on UNESCO's World Heritage list. It is one of the oldest and largest cities in Central Europe with a unique and diverse architectural offer, one of its nicknames is 'the city of the hundred towers'. A rough underestimation, because Prague counts no less than 550!
Until 1992, Prague was the capital of Czechoslovakia, then the Czech Republic. Because during the Second World War many attractions have been destroyed, you will find many buildings in very different architectural styles. Baroque, Gothic, Art Nouveau and brutalist style were set up in striking buildings. In the historic city center you will find, among other things, the astronomical clock on the Old Town Square and the famous Charles Bridge that connects the Old Town with the Malá Strana district.

There is a historic fortress on both sides of the center. On the north-west side, this is the largest castle in the world: the 'Prague Castle'. On the south side is the fortress Vysehrad, with the cemetery of many famous Czechs inside its walls. Be sure to visit the National Museum, the most important museum in the Czech Republic.

But there are also some examples of more recent architecture in Prague, such as the brutalist Zizkov television tower. Since 2000, the three poles of the tower have been adorned with crawling babies by the Czech sculptor David Cerny.

In addition to the many towers, Prague also has many restaurants in a special style. You can dine in Café Imperial in an Art Nouveau setting. A lover of fish dishes can go to Hergetova Cihelna. A stylish restaurant with a view of the Charles Bridge.

Delicious that centuries of history with static buildings, typical dishes and artistic streets.
